Triple Power for González Who Claims Third-Consecutive Moto2™ Victory
Racing Triumph Motorcycles 8th Jun 2026

Manuel González used his Triumph Triple power to secure a third-consecutive victory today, conquering Balaton Park to extend his Moto2™ World Championship lead. The Intact GP rider crossed the line ahead of early race leader Filip Salač with Senna Agius completing the podium places.

After securing fourth on the grid, González made a fast start, immediately slotting into the podium places before passing pole-sitter Izan Guevara on the opening lap, moving up to second behind Salač. After a mistake from Guevara on lap two, an optomistic Agius followed his teammate through and moved into the podium places.

From there, the leading trio began to break free of the pack, which was headed by Dani Holgado after he had worked his way ahead of Guevara, who was later handed a Long Lap Penalty for a starting maneuver incident. Completing his penalty, the Spanish rider reamerged in sixth place.

Meanwhile, González extracted all the power from his Triumph Street Triple 765 RS engine, powering his way to the fastest lap and another new lap record before lining his move on Salač at turn nine on Lap 12.

Moving to the head of the field, the number 18 rider stamped his authority on the field, extending his advantage over Salač who in turn was extending his lead on Agius.

However, the Australian’s position came under threat in the closing stages when Aspar Team's David Alonso began to bridge the gap to the podium-placed rider. Alonso, who had started ninth, worked his way ahead of his teammate [Holgado] before making it a two-way fight for the podium places.

Unfortunately for Alonso, it was too much too late for the Spaniard, who crossed the finish line just behind Agius who joined Salač and race-winner González on the podium.

Holgado secured fifth place with Guevara crossing the line sixth. Celestino Vietti finished seventh ahead of Alonso Lopez and Alberto Ferrandez who secured his best-ever Moto2 result in ninth. Tony Arbolino rounded out the top ten. Further behind, Taiyo Furusato recorded his first points with Joe Roberts rounding out the point-scoring positions.

The Moto2 World Championship will return to action in two weeks’ time at the Brno Circuit as the series heads to the Czech Republic across June 19-21.
