Lee Johnston capped off the 2025 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship inside the top five today as the SENCAT By Swan Racing Triumph rider backed up Macadam Factory Racing Team’s Luke Stapleford’s fifth in Saturday’s Race one aboard their Triumph Street Triple 765s.

The Irishman battled his way to a fifth-place finish at the challenging Brands Hatch circuit on Sunday after finishing a strong seventh in Saturday’s opening encounter.

After topping the opening practice, Macadam’s Stapleford secured his place in Qualifying two with a strong second practice and ventured out to secure his spot on the grid. A 1:27.526 was good enough for a sixth-place start for Saturday’s Sprint Race.

Making a solid getaway, Stapleford instantly got his head down in a bid to challenge for the podium positions. But as the 12 laps ticked by, he found himself detached from the leading group and crossed the finish line in fifth, fending off Joe Talbot in the closing stages. Teammate Max Wadsworth started 18th after being given a grid penalty for the weekend’s opening race. He made a quick getaway and instantly launched himself back into the points positions before a battle commenced. Emerging out on top, he picked up the pace and opened a comfortable lead over the group behind, finishing 15th.

Sunday got underway to a promising start, with Stapleford concluding the morning’s session in sixth. But disaster struck on the Warm Up Lap when a minor technical problem forced him to retire from the Feature Race at the end of the sighting lap.

With eyes on his teammate, it was another promising getaway for Wadsworth, who bolted from a 17th-place grid slot up into 11th. As he continued to push, a mistake at Paddock Hill Bend resulted in a crash, ending his race.

The 2025 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship has seen the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS claim four victories, with eight further podium appearances. Stapleford concludes the season fourth overall, with Lee Johnston seventh and Max Wadsworth rounding out the year in 16th.

Luke Stapleford - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing #8

Race 1: 5th | Race 2: DNS

"We wanted to end the season with a good result for the team at Brands Hatch. Going into the Free Practice sessions on Friday we were on the right track, setting the fastest lap times and getting up to speed quickly. Unfortunately we weren’t able to find much more for the Sprint Race and had to take 5th place. With one last race, sadly we were struck with an issue, that meant we weren’t able to run in the feature race. Big thanks to the team for all their help this year and to Triumph for all their support throughout the year."

Max Wadsworth - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing #72

Race 1: 15th | Race 2: DNF

“It’s not been an easy weekend for us, it didn’t quite work out from the get go really. We made a step forward for the Sprint Race but couldn’t quite put it together. The feature race started well but in the tricky conditions I made a mistake at turn one and crashed out, so I have to apologise to the team for that and thank them for their hard work. It was a tough start to the season but we’ve certainly shown good progress throughout the year and it’s something we can then build on for 2026. A huge thank you to everyone who has made it possible and thank you to Triumph for their support.”
