Following visibility and weather concerns at the Phillip Island Circuit, today’s Moto2™ Red Bull Grand Prix of Australia was ultimately cancelled as inclement weather and poor visibility around the iconic 2.7-mile circuit failed to improve over the day’s lengthy delay.

Phillip Island was set to host Round 18 of the Moto2 World Championship and the final Australian Grand Prix at the iconic coast-line circuit before the Grand Prix moves to Adelaide from 2027, but extreme weather conditions on Sunday saw Moto2’s time at Phillip Island cut short.

In an official statement issued by MotoGP, they said: 'Due to the delays caused by the poor visibility affecting the operation of the medical helicopter, the Moto3™ and the Moto2™ races have both been cancelled.'

Manuel Gonzalez had used the power of his Triumph Street Triple 765 RS to claim an important pole and was set to be joined on the front row by Barry Baltus and 2026 race winner Filip Salač, with title-challenger Izan Guevara sixth.

The Moto2 World Championship will now head to Malaysia for Round 19 of the World Championship which takes place across the weekend of October 30-1 November.
