New Triumph Street Triple RS launched in India
Motorcycles India on Monday launched the new Street Triple
R with a price tag of Rs 10.55 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the second variant of the new-generation motorcycle in the country after the base Street Triple S+ trim which was launched a few months ago.
While the new design remains almost unchanged as compared to the existing S version, the new RS trim gets sportier bar-end mirrors and a rear seat cowl. The paint options are also new including silver and black. There no change in the ergonomics as well and it continues to offer a perfect balance between sporty and comfortable riding posture.
What makes the Street Triple RS
special is the upgraded version of the new 765cc, inline-three engine that has been tuned to deliver 123PS (10PS more than the S) at 11,700rpm and a torque of 77Nm (4Nm more than the S) at 10,800rpm. It is the same engine that the British bikemaker is going to supply for the Moto2 category of the MotoGP world championship with a different state of tuning.
The motor comes mated to a six-speed transmission and the RS trim also gets a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. Along with the ride-by-wire, the bike also features five riding modes (rain, sport, race, rider and track) and four level traction control (road, rain, track and off). The advanced ABS also gets three level of customisation including road, track and off.
The rake angle has further decreased by almost a degree, providing a sharper handling and agility to the sportbike. A top-class fully adjustable suspension setup -- including Showa USD big piston forks at the front and Ohlins STX40 monoshock at the rear -- and top-shelf Brembo brake setup are among the other perks coming with the new Street Triple
The 166kg weighing motorcycle is around 2kg lighter than its previous model, which further enhanced the performance. To provide the perfect grip to the high-performance motorcycle, the lightweight alloys come shod with super sticky Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres.
