the 1200CC ENGINE
THRILLING BONNEVILLE 1200 HIGH TORQUE ENGINE
Central to the 2018 Bonneville Speedmaster's premium performance is the critically-acclaimed Bonneville 1200cc HT engine and the 'Bobber' tune. Its category-leading torque figure of 106Nm at a low 4,000rpm is up to 10% more (at 4,500rpm) than the Bonneville T120 and an amazing 42% more than the 2015 Speedmaster. This new generation engine has been built to deliver power low down and across the rev range... just when you need it most.
The 8-valve, single overhead cam parallel twin engine is liquid cooled for optimum performance and enhanced fuel efficiency, and comes with a reassuringly high first major service interval of 10,000 miles / 16,000Km. A charismatic 270° firing interval provides smooth, linear power delivery from the slick six-speed gearbox.
The Speedmaster's sound is thrilling, with a distinctive rich and raw exhaust note that is sure to grab attention wherever you go thanks to an innovative twin chamber airbox and twin filter design with signature Bonneville 'hidden cat box' header pipe run and unique twin-skin bright chrome exhaust system to contribute to the thrilling ride and rich British twin sound.
A torque-assist clutch brings a light touch and feel to this motorbike's control, reducing lever effort and improving long distance ride ability. As well as helping to reduce rider fatigue, this premium feature comes as standard to add to rider comfort, particularly in urban traffic.
TWO RIDING MODES
The new Bonneville Speedmaster has two selectable riding modes - Road and Rain - for greater control and safety. These are selectable through the motorcycle's left-hand switchgear.
Also fitted as standard to the left-hand switchgear, the simple and easy-to-use 'single-button' cruise control system is designed to improve long distance comfort.
