ICONIC THROUGH THE AGES

It all began where the road disappeared into the horizon, on the salt flats of Bonneville, Utah. In 1956, Johnny Allen pushed a Triumph-powered streamliner to 214.40 mph, and Triumph had a new name worth carrying forward.

Two years later, the Bonneville T120 arrived promising 120 mph from a production motorcycle, an astonishing feat at the time. It didn’t take long for the promise to become proof, as the Bonneville went racing and started winning, from the Thruxton 500 to the Isle of Man TT.

Adopted by the greats, we saw Steve McQueen as he took his 650cc Bonneville into the Californian desert, Evel Knievel, as he chose a Bonneville T120TT for his infamous leap over the fountains at Caesars Palace. The icon found its way into the hands of musicians, actors and riders who loved the motorcycle like it gave them purpose.

More than six decades later, the Bonneville is still recognisable by the same proportions, the same character and the same name that began on the salt flats. What started as a pursuit of speed became something far more enduring - a motorcycle that built an era of its own.
